The Freckled Key Photography is a Houston family photographer in The Heights Houston, TX.
It’s 5:00 p.m. I’ve been mommy-ing (yes, “mommy” is also a verb) since 7:00 a.m. and I have exactly one hour and 15 minutes left (on a normal day) before Daddy comes home and can commence daddy-ing (also a verb). And for those of us moms that have a life partner, there are few things better than that tidal wave of relief that comes blasting through the front door when Daddy walks in. *INSERT ALL PRAISE HANDS EMOJIS HERE*
Maxine is equally as thrilled, of this I can assure you. She starts asking for “Daddy” at about 5:00 as well, usually after I have rolled my eyes at her whining for the 100th time. We are both SO ready for Daddy.
Daddy is the one who throws her up high in the air when she toddles over to him. Daddy is the one who exclaims, “GEAN!!” when he bursts through the door.
Daddy is the one who handles bath time while I take a minute to pour myself a beverage and start cooking, a task that I have grown to love even more as of late.
And when bath time is over and my energy cup slowly begins to fill, there is absolutely nothing I love more than hugging this girl when she is fresh from the tub.
Something about a warm, soft, happy, snuggly baby. Oh my heart.
Yes, hugging that little bundle of squish and giggles is just what a tired momma needs to fill that cup right to the brim. Ready for another day at 7:00 a.m.
But first things first, I’m gonna go finish my glass of wine and sprinkle salt over the pot while Daddy finishes Daddy-ing.
And then I’ll kiss that fuzzy head before sending you to bed. Good night.
Bubbles and splash,
HK
